Self-publishing is when authors publish their work independently. That means skipping publishing houses and other intermediaries and selling directly to your readers, often through a publishing platform like Kindle Direct Publishing or IngramSpark.
03
Traditional publishing is a long, exhausting process with no guarantee of success. You’d need to hire an agent, try to find a publishing house that likes your work, and hope they don’t ask you to change too much. Self-publishing gives you complete creative control, a higher share of royalties, and fewer hurdles in finding an audience!
04
An ISBN, or International Standard Book Number, is a 13-digit identifier code for each edition and format of your book. It’s essentially a tracking number, allowing you to easily identify each version of your published work. The Weaver team is here to help you buy an ISBN for easy tracking.
05
It depends on your target audience. Ebooks are great if you want a cost-effective way to reach an international readership, but many people still prefer good old-fashioned printed books. At Weaver, we recommend maximizing accessibility where possible, which means going for both.
06
Technically speaking, your work is copyright protected as soon as you’ve created it... BUT it’s difficult to enforce that copyright if it’s not registered. While some writers decide it’s not worth the hassle, we recommend covering all your bases.
07
There are a lot of factors to consider here, including audience size, genre, marketing strategy, and royalty rate. At Weaver, we offer market-competitive royalty rates and assisting writers with marketing, book cover design, and anything else that can drive sales.

No one knows how to start writing a book before they try, but you can’t just jump into it without doing some research either. The first step is to know why you’re writing and who you’re writing for. Are you trying to drive clients to your business, help clients get the most out of your services, or tell a great story? Ask yourself these questions and find your target audience.
