Connecting With Our Community

Strong communities grow when people speak openly about what they need. The following issues are the ones residents raise most often. Do these reflect your concerns? If so, I want to hear from you. If you have other priorities, I invite you to share them with me.

Growth and Development

Clarington is growing quickly. You see the changes around you every day. New homes, expanding neighborhoods, and pressure on existing infrastructure are shaping the future of Wards 1 and 2. You deserve a plan that respects your quality of life. Many residents want development that supports families, protects green areas, and creates balanced neighborhoods. What changes do you hope to see over the next few years?

Housing and Affordability

Many young families feel priced out of the market. Seniors often share concerns about staying in the community long-term. Housing needs are shifting and you should have options that work for your situation. What housing challenges affect you today?

Traffic and Road Safety

Speeding in residential areas, congestion, limited parking, and unsafe crossings are concerns raised again and again. These issues affect your daily routines. You should feel safe whether you walk, cycle, or drive. Which roads or intersections worry you the most?

Infrastructure

As our population increases, roads, drainage systems, recreation facilities, and emergency services face new pressures. Residents want improvements that match the pace of growth. What improvements would make the biggest difference in your area?

Community Services, Recreation, and Healthcare Access

Parents ask about recreation programs. Seniors ask about accessible spaces. Many residents talk about long wait times to see a family doctor. Access to services affects your well-being. Which programs or services are most important to you?

Governance and Transparency

Residents want respectful decision-making at all levels of council. You deserve clear information and leadership that focuses on constructive dialogue. How do you feel about the current decision-making process in our municipality?

About Kannan

My path has always centered on people. I started in the airline industry, where I learned the value of patience, steady communication, and quick problem-solving. When people needed support in stressful moments, I had to respond clearly and calmly. Those experiences shaped how I approach every interaction today.

Later, I continued my work in the hospitality sector. Supporting staff, managing tasks, and communicating with guests from many cultures taught me how important it is to listen before making decisions. I learned the value of teamwork and consistent effort.

After that, I spent many years as a content writer. Writing every day taught me discipline, clarity, and the importance of sharing ideas in a simple and direct way. That experience strengthened my communication skills and helped me become a better organizer and collaborator. People often describe me as steady, reliable, and caring. I value those qualities because they reflect how I try to serve others.

I have also been active in volunteer work for many years. I have supported community events at various places of worship. These experiences showed me that residents from different backgrounds share many of the same hopes. Everyone wants safety, fairness, opportunity, and respect. This belief guides my approach to community service.

Today, I am preparing for the municipal election in Clarington. The official date is October 26, 2026. Until the election is formally declared, I am focused on connecting with residents, learning from your concerns, and building a clear plan based on what matters to you.

You deserve representation that listens closely, speaks honestly, and works consistently. My goal is to bring that approach to public service.

A Message to Residents

My goal is simple. I want to listen carefully, engage with respect, and serve with responsibility. You deserve someone who takes your concerns seriously. You deserve someone who responds with clarity. You deserve someone who shows up consistently.

This page is not about making promises. It is about understanding your concerns and preparing meaningful plans for the future. You know what your neighborhood needs. You experience the challenges firsthand. Your insight guides this work.
